Passport and Visa:
A valid passport is required to enter Argentina, except
for citizens from one of the neighbouring countries (Chile,
Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil).
Canadian, US, British and European citizens travelling
to Argentina for tourism purposes only, for a period of
three months or less, do not require a visa for entry
into the country.
Please note: the validity of your passport should exceed
the intended duration of the visit in Argentina. It is
recommended that your passport be valid for at least six
months.
For additional information on visas or entry formalities,
you should consult with the Argentine Embassy or consulate
nearest to you.
Customs:
Each traveller older than 18 years may carry
up to 2 (two) litters of alcoholic beverages, 400 cigarettes
and 50 cigars. There is no limit for the entry of personal
items and clothing. Photographic and electronic equipment
and computer related items must be declared upon entry.
Visitors coming from countries not bordering Argentina
are exempt from all taxes on travelling articles and new
articles with a value of not more than US$300.
Driver's Licence:
An International or Inter-American Driving License and
a National or State Permit from the country of origin
is required. Drivers must be at least 21 years old to
rent our motorhomes in Argentina.
Three obligatory documents that must be carried in the
automobile are: the receipt for the last tax payment,
proof of insurance coverage and proof of ownership. These
documents will be provided to you on your rental first
day.
A photocopy of your driver's licence will be made at the
office when you will be handed the vehicle. Please make
sure you take it with you, as your driver's licence number
only won't be enough!
It isn't necessary to hold an international driver's licence.
Once you will reach the rental base, you will need to
spend approximately two hours filling the rental contract,
paying the deposit, and to receive full and detailed explanation
on the unit and its subtleties.
If you want to drive to Chile, you will
need to notify us ahead of time so that we can prepare
the mandatory notary documents ready. We will send you
a form to complete for that purpose.
Driving in Argentina:
Driving is on the right side. Seatbelts are mandatory,
although local drivers often do not use them.
Maximum speed limit in the cities is 60 km/hour. On the
highways it is 130 km/hour.
The price of gasoline is high: US$1.07 per litter in average.
Diesel costs one-third of this.
Police check points are frequent. Your driver's licence,
passport and rental contract may be asked. We would advise
you to have a copy of these documents handy.
Generally speaking, there are no problems with the police
as long as you can provide them with the documents mentioned
above and as long as you are not driving under the influence.
Driving in Latin America is quite different than driving
in North America or Europe. Many drivers have a "sports"
or "aggressive" way of driving, which doesn't
mean you need to drive the same way... You just need to
be aware and drive carefully.

Driving a motorhome in Argentina:
Driving the motorhomes is easy. However, you may need
a certain time to get familiar with it and with its dimensions.
Take your time to adjust mirrors and seat, check how the
headlights are working etc.
All units are standard transmission; there are no automatic
transmission vehicles in our fleet.
Keep in mind the vehicle height and think of branches,
electric cables, bridges and tunnels.
When refuelling, or on the pay tolls on highways, make
sure you go in the oversized vehicle lanes.
Road maps:
Road maps and guidebooks are already in the unit
for you to use. Should you wish to plan your trip ahead
of time, you can obtain Argentina Road Maps on the Automovil
Club Argentino website.

Fuel:
The units we are offering for rent in Argentina
are for the most of them using DIESEL. The average consumption
is of about 15 to 17 litres/100 km.
Some smaller units (4x4, Renaut Kangoo...) are using regular
fuel. The consumption is of about 10 to 17 litres/100
km depending on the vehicle.
Please see our "Vehicles
available for rent in Argentina" section for
details.
At night:
For safety reasons, we do encourage you to take advantage
of the numerous (and not expensive) campgrounds available
in all tourist areas.
However, there are many other alternatives. For instance,
if you are on your way to a distant location, do not hesitate
to ask at a gas station if you could stop overnight. Or
if you are in a beautiful place you don't want to leave,
camping is allowed almost everywhere in Argentina unless
otherwise posted. Just make sure you are not on a private
property (in which case you may want to find the owner
and ask him permission, that will most of the time be
granted, and the owner may even show you a nicer place!).
